What brand of modem is used for new fibre broadband installations?

BroadbandQueen

Different ISPs provide different brands of fibre modems. PCCW / Netvigator generally provides Nokia or Huawei ONTs (Optical Network Terminals), which are quite stable. HKBN usually uses ZTE or Huawei equipment.

HGC uses a wider range of modem brands, including ZTE, Huawei and TP-Link. i-Cable mainly uses its own brand or ZTE equipment. SmarTone fibre broadband usually uses Nokia or ZTE.

It should be noted that the modem provided by the ISP is usually only responsible for fibre signal conversion, and the WiFi function is relatively weak. It is recommended to purchase a good WiFi router separately and set the ISP's modem to Bridge Mode for a better WiFi experience.
