Is $78 the cheapest option for new CMHK customers?

China Mobile Hong Kong's (CMHK) $78 monthly plan for new customers is indeed one of their most entry-level options, including 10GB of 4.5G data and unlimited talk time. But whether it's really the "cheapest" depends on how you compare it.

If you compare it to CMHK's own other plans, $78 is indeed the most entry-level monthly fee. But if you compare it to other telecom operators, 3HK and SmarTone have cheaper entry-level plans, with monthly fees ranging from $58 to $68. However, the data allowance may be less.

CMHK's advantage is that they also offer Greater Bay Area roaming offers. If you often go back to the mainland or Macau, CMHK's roaming data is usually the cheapest. The $78 plan already includes basic Greater Bay Area roaming data.
