When choosing broadband speed, the most important thing is to understand your actual needs. Here are the approximate internet speeds required for various common uses:
Browsing web pages/Email: 5-10Mbps is sufficient. Social media (Facebook/IG): 10-15Mbps. YouTube 1080p: 10-15Mbps. Netflix 4K: 25Mbps. Online games: 10-30Mbps (but latency must be low). Video conferencing (Zoom): 5-10Mbps.
The above are the requirements for a single device. If 3-4 people in your home are using the internet at the same time, you need to multiply the above numbers by 3-4 times. For example, if 4 people are watching 4K Netflix at the same time, you will need about 100Mbps. So, in general, 100M-500M is enough for a family, and 1000M provides a generous buffer.
