Is it normal for HKT 1000M WiFi to test at only 200+ Mbps?

If your HKT 1000M broadband speed test via WiFi is only around 200+ Mbps, this is actually quite common. The main reason is speed loss via WiFi.

WiFi speed is affected by many factors: router specifications (WiFi 5 vs WiFi 6), frequency band (2.4GHz vs 5GHz), distance, wall obstructions, interference, etc. Using a WiFi 5 router connected to the 5GHz band, 200-400Mbps is normal. Using a WiFi 6 router can reach 500-800Mbps.

It is recommended to first use a wired (LAN cable) connection to test the speed and confirm that the fibre itself is normal (should be close to 900-950Mbps). If the wired speed is normal but the WiFi is slow, then it is a problem with the router or WiFi environment. Consider upgrading the router or adjusting the router's position.
