Is it normal for 1000MB internet to only get a download speed of a dozen MB via WiFi in the room?

If you are using 1000M broadband but the WiFi speed is only a dozen Mbps, this is definitely not normal. Usually, it may be due to the following reasons:

First, the router is too old or does not support high-speed WiFi. If you are using a WiFi 4 (802.11n) router, the maximum speed is only a few dozen Mbps. It is recommended to upgrade to a WiFi 6 router. Second, your phone/computer is connected to the 2.4GHz band instead of the 5GHz band. The speed of 2.4GHz is much slower than 5GHz.

Third, there are several walls between the router and the room, and the WiFi signal is severely attenuated. You can consider installing Mesh WiFi or using a wired connection. Fourth, the network cable may be Cat 5 (only supports 100Mbps), and needs to be replaced with Cat 5e or Cat 6.

It is recommended to first use a wired connection to test and confirm that the broadband speed itself is normal, and then gradually troubleshoot the WiFi problem. WhatsApp us and we'll help you diagnose it for free!
